Hakurei Quick Fry
Omar tasted one of these and said “Oh Wow! Tastes like zucchini. It has good flavor.”
Ingredients
- Hakurei turnips (3 - 5, depending on size)
- 1/2 cup chives, onions, scallions, or garlic
- 2 cups any other stir-fry-able vegetable (peas, kohlrabi, greens, etc.)
- Soy sauce, or balsamic vinegar to taste
- Butter, coconut, or olive oil
Preparation
- Thinly slice 3 - 5 hakurei turnips.
- In a frying pan, melt butter, then add 1/2 cup chopped alliums (the plant family comprised of scallions, shallots, garlic and onions).
- Once the alliums are swetting, add thinly sliced hakurei turnips, as well as any chopped kohlrabi greens, arugula, or kale, small broccoli spears, or really anything else fry-able in your crisper.
- Sauté (medium heat) for 10 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper, balsamic vinegar, and tamari to taste, as well as any herbs and spices you may desire.
- Serve over rice, noodles, as salad starter, or in a tortilla.
